Heck no! If I wanted to curse at my tech, I'd just try to do my homework on my Android tablet! On the other hand, Chromebooks have awesome battery life (8-12 hours?) and depending on the RAM, you can have LOTS of browser windows open without lag. A cheapo windows laptop would have been around $500 to 600 and it would have had a very short battery life (most in that price range has 4 hours of battery life at best) and the computational power would have been so low that Chrome would have struggled. What was important to me was battery life and the ability to open multiple (and I mean MULTIPLE) web browsers windows without Chrome crashing. etc.) and I already used Google Drive extensively. (I'm a single mom of 2 - there is no quiet study time here at my house, so I escape every Sunday to study elsewhere in silence.) All my school stuff is online (school website, MyMathLab, etc.

I needed a portable computer that would allow me to access my online classes and tech cert study material from anywhere. I had the same quandary a few months ago - buy a cheapo "barely strong enough to run windows" laptop or a Chromebook. Unless you need something obscure that only works on Windows, Chromebooks are cheaper and in that $ market of laptops they generally are faster. Everything will be ran from a browser soon. If all you do is go on Facebook, check email, word processing, minor photo editing, you don't NEED a Windows computer.

You can do all the necessary things windows can on the Web. ChromeOS is super lightweight compared to Windows and doesn't need much to run it. You say you can do "a lot' more and that may be true when comparing the abundance of Windows apps vs ChromeOS but when it comes to laptops alot of the money goes towards portability and not performance.

You probably can't even get a good i5 laptop for that price, and if u get windows 10 on anything less then lol. Over time it will turn into a slow piece of shit (especially due to the retailer).
